Rare Russian Contract Winchester Model 1895 and one of 293,816 made by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1916. Blued 28" Nickel Steel barrel in 7.62mm Russian with correct integral base pinned blade front sight and 3200-meter graduated flip rear sight. Blued action with Russian acceptance stamp on the right side and stripper clip device on top with a plain trigger. Walnut military buttstock with trapdoor buttplate, military sling, and Russian acceptance mark on the right side. Walnut 2-piece forestock with finger groove and blued barrel bands with stud for saber-type bayonet. CONDITION: 90% original barrel blue with light speckling and edges worn to a silvery patina. Action flaked to a silvery patina with very visible inspector mark and original blue remaining in protected areas. Wood has traces of original varnish with clear Russian acceptance stamp, handling and storage dings and bruises, and slight chipping around the tang with no visible repairs or restoration. Dark bore with visible rifling and crisp mechanics. Hard rifle to find in this condition.
