Lot consists of: (A) .60 caliber flintlock coat or vest pistol marked Ryan & Watson on the lock plate. Sighted octagonal 4 - 1/2" barrel with crown over crossed sword proofs. Original bolted lock with raised water resisting pan and roller to frizzen spring. Fully stocked with smooth lacquered butt and engraved script "MRR" on silver escutcheon. Ramrod most likely a period replacement. CONDITION: Mechanically sound with strong main and frizzen springs. Previously polished brass turning gold. Overall very good. (B) Napoleonic wars era .62 caliber flintlock naval pistol with 4" brass belt hook. Most likely an officer private purchase from Birmingham gun maker John Jones. His film provided arms from around 1780 to the early 1820s. Very attractive hexagonal brass barrel with engraved brass hardware and vacant silver escutcheon aft of breech. Full stocked walnut hardwood with double pinned barrel. Double cypher proofs on left side of barrel, and "BIRMINGHAM" gang stamp across the top. Ramrod is an early replacement. CONDITION: Mechanically sound with strong main and frizzen springs. Smaller pistol metal shows very light pitting mostly on the rear of barrel with metal overall a mottled grey and smooth plum on the hammer and lock. BRM.
