Lot consists of: (A) War of 1812 era Brown Bess socket bayonet and scabbard for the India pattern musket. Maker stamped “Osborne” under a crown proof and "24" stamped on the top of the blade near the base. Osborne worked in Birmingham under his own name and produced bayonets and other arms from 1797 to 1807. (B) India pattern Brown Bess socket bayonet from the Napoleonic period. Maker stamped "Osborne" under a crown proof over "19". Rack or unit marked "LC 50" over base of socket collar. (C) Napoleonic era Indian pattern Brown Bess bayonet. Stamped "Osborn" over a crown proof and "6". Unit marked "46" on the socket for the 46th Foot, The Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry. (D) Revolutionary War era Brown Bess bayonet. Unit marked "5 B / XX" on the socket. Could possibly be for the 20th Foot, The Lancashire Fusiliers. (E) 20" British Brown Bess socket bayonet marked "P" with a broad arrow proof and "S.K.". (F) 15" short British bayonet for possibly the officer's fusil. Unit marked "8 / 57". CONDITION: Bayonets are overall mottled grey with some finish turning to brown. Leather scabbards exhibit solid stitching with the brass tip missing from (B). BRM.
