Manufactured 1918. Half moon front sight, U notch flat top rear sight. Left side of slide with 2 line 2 block patent and address information with intercepting Pony, right side with "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY". Barrel marked "P / H", oriented to be read with muzzle up; indistinct proofs ahead of link. "H" and "G" proofs on top of frame near disconnector. Frame with "(Eagle Head) / SI 6" on left side, "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on left side of dust cover, right side of frame with with serial number. Small parts comprise checkered spurred hammer, thick tab safety, checkered slide release with relief mill cut, long milled trigger, checkered magazine release, short 1911 grip safety, flat smooth mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Truncated diamond checkered walnut grips, with pencil writing indicating that they were purchased in 1974 by Frank (last name illegible) from Harry (last name illegible) in Iowa for $60. 2 tone magazine with a replaced baseplate, rewelded and polished. CONDITION: Overall very good, retaining approximately 60% of the Colt bluing, with most losses to top of slide and straps. Crisp legends, with appropriate distension particularly visible around the eagle head proof. Mechanically fine, bore is very good with strong rifling and some light frosting. Grips are very good, 1 grip screw replaced.
