Standard configuration K98k manufactured by Mauser in 1944. The receiver is stamped with Mauser's "byf" code above "44" over the chamber. Barrel markings stipulate manufacture by Mauser in 1944. "(Eagle) / 135" waffenamts are present on the receiver, barrel, and various other external components, including the underside of the stock at the wrist and right side of the buttstock. Receiver, barrel, and barrel bands are blued, while the bolt assembly, trigger guard, and floorplate are phosphate finished. Stock and upper handguard are comprised of laminated wood. Matching numbers are present on the receiver and bolt assembly, with remaining components unnumbered. Rifle is accompanied by a "W.K.C." marked bayonet, a black leather 3-cell ammunition pouch containing 7 stripper clips & 1 dummy round, 1 reproduction leather sling, as well as 1 period brown leather sling. CONDITION: Very good overall, with metal components retaining the majority of their original arsenal applied finish, exhibiting some areas of minor wear and thinning showing through to gray patina overall. Bolt handle knob exhibits a patch of oxidation. Mirror bore, exhibiting sharp and well-defined rifling throughout. Stock exhibits few minor marks from handling and storage. Bayonet is excellent. Period leather sling exhibits age related cracking and a tear on one end, with the torn end still present. MLW
