Lot consists of: (A) French AN XI Light Cavalry Saber which features a curved blade with flat spine and wide fuller. Blade is marked on the spine by Klingenthal and dated 1813 with proof marks above the obverse ricasso. Brass guard with 3-band guard that forms into the knucklebow, also proof marked. Round pommel with wide backstrap that secures a grooved and leather wrapped wood grip. Complete with scabbard. CONDITION: The blade is bright and was heavily polished with faint areas of pitting. Grip appears to have been eaten by bugs with hole ridden soft wood and delicate leather wrap. Hilt was also polished. Scabbard was also heavily cleaned and exhibits pitting throughout its length. (B) French AN XI Light Cavalry Saber. Same configuration as (A) with narrower blade and smaller guard. Blade is also marked on the spine by Klingenthal and dated 1813. Complete with scabbard. CONDITION: The blade exhibits a gray patina with freckling throughout its length. Hilt exhibits a pleasing patina with nice grip that exhibits handling wear. Scabbard exhibits a dark patina with scattered freckling and blemishes throughout its length. A nice group of Napoleonic sabers.
