Lot consists of: (A) French Napoleonic Officer's Light Cavalry Saber. Curved blade with wide fuller and flat spine marked by Klingenthal. Brass hilt with 3-band guard which forms into the knucklebow and connects to the rounded pommel. Wide backstrap which extends to the crossguard that features a pronounced quillon. Brass languet on each side. Grooved wood grip wrapped with leather. Complete with steel scabbard that features brass mounts and carry rings. CONDITION: The blade exhibits a dark gray patina with scattered spotting and freckling. Hilt exhibits nice amounts of original gilding and grip with handling wear. 1 significant area of leather loss to the grip. Scabbard exhibits a bright finish with nice traces of gilding on the mounts. Scattered small dents and blemishes. (B) French 1815 Officer's Saber with curved, single fullered blade with elegant blued panels that adorn about 1/3 of its length. The panels feature attractive gold washed designs including scrollwork and a panoply of arms. Obverse ricasso maker marked "I.S. & C." under the languet. 3-band cavalry guard which forms into the knucklebow and connects to the pommel. Wide backstrap which travels the length of the grip and connects to the guard under the pronounced quillon. Wood grip wrapped with leather and grooved to accommodate twisted wire. Complete with iron scabbard which features brass mounts. CONDITION: Blade is bright with scattered blemishes and mostly unmolested decorations. Hilt exhibits a pleasant patina with handling wear to the grip. Scattered holes in the leather. Scabbard features scattered blemishes with scattered freckling and wear.
