Introduced in 1801 and used until they were supplanted by the XIII model. Standard configuration with round barrel, octagonal for a short length at breech, retained by a double strap nosecap. Trumped head nosecap. Slightly convex banana lock with no visible markings from a thorough aggressive polishing. Brass sidelock with 2 lock bolts. Brass trigger guard and buttcap. Iron tang. Numerous French proofs visible throughout. One piece of replaced wood in front of trigger in the shape of a "B". CONDITION: Overall very good, Iron components essentially gunmetal grey with some scattered peppering, and few heavier areas. Brass is good, a mellow gold patina, with some handling marks.
