A very nice and complete World War I archive named to Clifford E. Dun. The archive consists of Dun's dress uniform that consists of his jacket, trousers, and vest. The uniform features a nice set of US and Air Corps collar insignia, Lt. bars, red discharge chevron, and 3 silver service chevrons. Other uniform pieces include his visor hat, and leather leggings. Personal items include his leather briefcase which contained a plethora of manuals and charts pertaining to US Army Air Corps aircraft and other equipment. Miscellaneous pieces include a bible, ID cards, post war American legion cards contained in a wallet, binoculars, book ends etc.. There are 3 small boxes of insignia, one contains a New York state medal for WWI service, there is a boxed WWI service medal without clasp, and another box contains his dog tags and there is a fair amount of extra insignia including buttons, collar devices, and more. There are also 2 photos of Dun in this uniform. It does not appear that Dun ever went overseas but he has several sets of instructor wings suggesting that he may have been part of the vital effort to train Air Corps Cadets for the war effort. CONDITION: The uniform exhibits scattered stains but presents well and remains intact. Paper items exhibit blemishes that are typical of old paper. Hat is nice and retains its original shape. Leather items remain supple with scattered blemishes that are typical of old leather. This is a very nice and complete archive from a veteran of the early days of the Air Corps.
