Only 20,000 were produced for field trials from 1922 to 1924, with this example dated 1922. Designed to update the No. 1 MK III rifles utilized through World War I, the No. 1 Mk V has an updated aperture rear sight located at the rear of the receiver and a longer hand guard which fully encompasses the barrel, secured by an extra band. Rifle features arsenal applied blued finish throughout with a 25 - 1/2" barrel chambered in .303, protected blade front sight integral to the nose cap, full length walnut stock retained by 2 bands, and a brass trap butt plate and unmarked stock disk. Complete with a woven sling. CONDITION: Very good retaining the vast majority of the arsenal applied finishes with some light areas of toning. Stock has light impressions throughout with an "S" stamped near the toe. Very good bore with sharp rifling. Mechanically fine. Matching numbers observed on receiver, bolt, and nose cap. BAS
