Standard configuration K98k manufactured at Mauser in 1937. The receiver is stamped with Mauser's "S/42" clandestine manufacturer above "1937" over the chamber, with 3 "(Eagle) / 63" waffenamts present on the right side. Left side of receiver and barrel bear a single droop eagle firing proof. Metal components exhibit a blue finish, while stock and upper handguard are comprised of solid walnut. Interior of stock is stamped "15.Feb.1937" in red ink in the barrel channel. Matching numbers are present on the receiver, barrel, rear sight base, as well as the trigger guard. Bolt assembly assembly does not match, but matches itself. Stock and upper handguard match each other. Receiver ring exhibits what appears to be a light coat of lacquer and stock has been very lightly sanded and revarnished. Receiver capture screws are not present. Muzzle is fitted with a "(Eagle) / WaA655" waffenamt. CONDTION: Metal components retain large amounts of their period applied blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to pleasant mottled gray and brown patinas overall. Mirror bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Stock is very good as lightly sanded and revarnished. MLW
