Standard configuration Victory Model originally manufactured by Smith & Wesson under contract for the United States Navy and subsequently issued to the U.S. Department of Civil Defense. The barrel is stamped "SMITH & WESSON" on the left side, with Smith & Wesson's manufacturer information across the top, and the caliber designation on the right. Right side of frame bears the S&W logo followed by "MADE IN U.S.A.", with "U.S. NAVY" stamped across the left side of the top strap. Left side of frame bears a hand-scribed "CD" within a triangle, indicating issue to the Department of Civil Defense. Underside of frame exhibits a "5", forward of the trigger guard. Frame, cylinder, and barrel exhibit a parkerized finish, while the grooved trigger and hammer are case color hardened. Ejector rod is blued. Frame is mounted with 2-piece smooth wood grips. Matching numbers are present on the butt of the frame, rear face of the cylinder, as well as the underside of the barrel. Grips do not match. CONDITION: Metal components retain the vast majority of their arsenal applied parkerized finish, exhibiting some areas of wear, as well as scattered marks from handling and storage overall that show through to silvering. Trigger and hammer retain vibrant case coloring overall. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting well defined lands and grooves throughout. Grips exhibit some scattered nicks, marks, and impressions, but are otherwise fine.
