Barrel in 2 stages, octagonal to round, with a pair of wedding bands at the girdle: one is plain and the other chiseled with geometrics. Top rib of octagonal section with a deeply struck poincon that reads "ROMA" and 11 silver dots. Roman style miquelet lock with a faceted pan, neatly filed throughout, but plain. Brass sideplate with double locking bolts. Burl walnut stock with barrel retained by pin. Vacant brass plaque at wrist. Ramrod with bone tip, probably the original, feeds into a reinforced mouth, cast as 1 piece with a faux ferrule. Trigger guard of plain brass with an urn finial. Brass buttcap with a grotesque depicting a rather frightened looking tiger. CONDITION: Metal has been polished to a gunmetal grey throughout with some areas of peppering and scattered mossing. Stock is very good with some handling marks throughout, and a crack at ramrod channel and left strap. Minor chipping at sideplate. Brass is good, trigger guard replaced. Mechanically fine, bore is excellent. Formerly part of the Allan Klein Collection.
