Lot consists of (A) A small eprouvette for testing powder strength. Brass mechanism has an engraved wheel with a shield over the muzzle, so that when a load of blackpowder is ignited with a match, the pressure forces the wheel to move. Slabside walnut grips. CONDITION: Very good, engraving on wheel is clean, brass has a lovely deep gold patina, grip with some handling marks throughout. Wheel has one chip under the "3" designation. (B) Small tinder lighter circa 1820. Measures only 3 - 1/2" overall. The boxlock action is engraved with a star and border on each side and features a reinforced cock and folding trigger. The wooden grip is checkered on both sides and fluted on the spine. CONDITION: Good with grey patina. Action functions but is weak. Grip shows some wear to checkering. A very nice small size. Sold in in the Bill Myers Sale, September 29th, 2021, Lot 1122. Formerly part of the Allan Klein Collection.
