Manufactured in 1854 with 4" octagon barrel in .31 caliber with screw-in cone front sight, New York City barrel address, and hammer notch rear. Matching full or partial serial numbers observed at rammer, wedge, barrel, cylinder arbor, cylinder, frame, trigger guard, and butt. 1 piece walnut grips with silver plated backstrap and trigger guard. Complete with Colt walnut partitioned case with red cloth interior, cast projectiles, a period powder flask with patriotic eagle motif, Colt marked bullet mold, nipple wrench, and Eley marked japanned cap tin. CONDITION: Very good, with barrel retaining a majority of the original thinning blue finish with light brown patina and freckling forming over top. Cylinder scene is sharp. Grips show some handling marks with no major signs of distress. Trigger guard and backstrap retain a large majority of the silver plating remaining with oxidation forming on high edges, namely at left side of trigger guard. Action is tight and crisp. Bore is bright with modest abrasion toward muzzle. Case shows some scattered handling marks and wear to contact edges of cloth interior with partitions strong. Accessories are fine. Formerly part of the Allan Klein collection.
