Classic 4 barrel cluster configuration with turn off barrels assisted by false rifling. Crisp Damascus twist numbered barrels and breeches. Appropriate Belgian ELG proof and "(Crown) / A" proof. Round action with removable plates engraved with well executed floral scroll and dressed edges, with thinner flowing vines at edges. "R184" on top of action in line with barrel. Ring trigger, cap cutout on left side. Ebony grips retained by a single screw form a sharply angled bag grip. From strap with "MARIETTE / BREVETE" marking. In a case with a central engraved escutcheon with enamel accents on lid, containing a small hardwood jar with lead balls, a 34 bore marked combination ball mold, sprue cutter, and tool, and a small brass tag with "CHRSTIES 331 EAST", indicating sale through Christies in the past. Case is lined in red velvet, possibly a newer lining, and marked "Jensen 18 R. Favart" on the simple warded lock. CONDITION: Very good, with some very minor handling marks acquired over time, mostly to grips. Barrels have a few minor spots of oxidation, mostly on barrel 2. Cluster rotates appropriately, bores are very good. Case is good with numerous handling marks and impressions, missing a 1/2" chip on right side of lid, with other more minor hits. Accessories are fine. A good example. Formerly part of the Allan Klein Collection.
