Imperial German Navy (Kaiserliche Marine) M1890 Cadet naval dagger with a "Echt Damnst" (Original Damascus) marked Damascus steel blade exhibiting its distinct wavy patterned steel with freckling, scattered marks, and several edge nicks. A worn leather washer is still present. Bone grip has staining and hairline crazing, and brass cross guard and crown pommel retain little of their gilded finish. An Imperial German portepee is attached with light to moderate wear. Brass scabbard retains little of its gilded finish with patina and several 1/4" shallow dents. What appears to the the name "Hobis" is etched on the scabbard near the throat. A unique opportunity to own a very desirable earlier German naval dagger. CONDITION: Overall very good. WEZ
