Third Reich M36 chained SS dagger known by collectors as a "Type 2B". The blade is unmarked and exhibits fine original factory cross graining, with light runner and scattered marks, as well as tiny dark spots of very light freckling, mainly near the tip. The standard "Meine Ehre Heißt Treue" motto is present. The zinc fittings retain 90+% of their nickel plating with scattered marks with age patina and very light freckling. The black ebony grip has light wear, scattered marks, and a 1/4" chip to the right of the SS runes adjacent to the top guard. The inlaid aluminum national eagle has very light wear, and SS roundel has patina and light wear. Both are original to the grip. The top pommel nut does not appear to have been removed and is very tight. There is only very slight movement of the blade in its fittings/ grip. A portepee with light wear is attached. The black anodized scabbard retains approximately 95% of its finish, with light freckling (mainly a 1/2" spot under the center band) and light scattered marks. The 3 fittings are nickel plated steel and retain 95+% of that finish, with light scattered marks and a tiny spot of freckling on the lower fitting. A 1/8" dent is present on the tip of the lower fitting. All 6 fitting screws are present. The chain is nicely machine stamped on the rear with the SS logo, and the belt clip is missing its spring, which is a common occurrence. The blade fits perfectly in its scabbard. CONDITION: Overall excellent. WEZ
