Series 2 Type 44 bolt action carbine manufactured at the Nagoya arsenal. The receiver bears an entirely intact Imperial Japanese chrysanthemum above Kanji characters denoting the model designation over the chamber, while the left side exhibits the series stamping, serial number, as well as the Nagoya arsenal insignia. Major metal components are blued; some smaller components are either in-the-white or strawed. Matching numbers are present on the receiver, bolt body, safety knob, as well as on the interior of the floorplate. Furniture is comprised of a 2-piece wood stock, solid wood upper handguard, as well as a 3rd pattern bayonet housing. Butt trap cleaning rods are present. CONDITION: Metal components retain the majority of their original arsenal applied blue finish, exhibiting mild wear and thinning overall showing through to brown patina, with the floorplate and trigger guard exhibiting surface oxidation. Mirror bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Stock exhibits scattered marks from handling and storage, but is otherwise sturdy and serviceable. MLW
