Model 1883 Reichsrevolver manufactured at the Royal Arsenal at Erfurt in 1895. Left side frame sideplate is stamped with a "(Crown) / ERFURT/ 1895", with small Erfurt arsenal proofs present overall. Imperial German reichsadler is present on the left side of faceted barrel breech. Rear grip strap is unit marked "H.T.S.3.118." indicating issue to the Medical Company of the Hessian Train Battalion, 3rd Company, Weapon Number 118. Major metal components are blued; some smaller components are in-the-white. All numbers are matching, externally and internally, including the 2-piece smooth wood grips. CONDITION: Metal components retain the majority of their period arsenal applied blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning showing through to brown patina, with mild surface level oxidation present overall. In-the-white components exhibit age related discoloration overall. Excellent bore, exhibiting a few spots of oxidation and retaining well defined rifling throughout. Smooth wood grips show some scattered impressions and marks from handling and storage, but are otherwise fine. MLW
