Rare American made 8 gauge muzzleloading percussion side by side shotgun made by Bales Ipswich, Massachusetts circa 1825. Massive 32 - 1/4" twist steel barrels with smooth concave rib, bead front sight, and hook breech. Bales marked percussion locks with double triggers. Checkered walnut 1-piece stock with iron hardware and original ebony ramrod. CONDITION: Metal has worn to a silvery patina with twist pattern still evident. Wood has traces of original finish with some stress cracks at butt. Good bores with crisp mechanics. A rare gun and hard to find in this condition.
