Civil war era gun, manufactured in 1862. Cut for a shoulder stock. German silver blade front sight and a V notch rear sight cut into the top lip of the hammer. Single line address on top of the barrel "-ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S.AMERICA-". On the left side of the frame is "COLTS / PATENT". Matching serial numbers on the following parts: barrel assembly, frame, trigger guard, back strap, grip, and cylinder. The wedge does not match. There are Government inspectors marks on both sides at the lower edge of the grip, but no U.S. on the frame. CONDITION: The gun has been heavily cleaned and has no finish. Fair bore with spots of freckling and light pitting in the lands and grooves. Very little of the cylinder scene is visible. Grip fits the gun very well. Action works, lock up is a bit loose.
