A very nice lot of Florence Nightingale letters that were collected by Dr. John K. Lattimer. The letters include: (A) August 10, 1870 letter regarding the rendering of aid to sick and wounded soldiers engaged in the Franco-Prussian War. The letter is accompanied by a 4 page "List of Articles required for sick and wounded soldiers." The letter is signed by Nightingale. The letter comes with a James Spence Authentication Full Letter of Authenticity. (B) Typed letter that a previous description describes as mourning stationary (minus the black border) written by Nightingale in which she practically begs surgeon Col. George Evatt to write down what he had done and other relevant facts bearing on the prevention of venereal disease and leprosy among the troops. The letter is one and a half pages and is type signed by Nightingale. Both letters contain interesting content. CONDITION: The letters are in overall good condition with scattered blemishes that are typical of old paper including light edge wear, slight staining, etc.
