December 13-15, 2022 Collectible Firearms & Militaria
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/14/2022
A beautiful blue silk flag with yellow fringe painted with the Pennsylvania state seal in the manner of many early state military flags, but with the painted identification of “Grace Council No. 631 F.P.A.,” a Philadelphia fraternal organization mentioned in several Philadelphia papers of the late 19th and early 20th century in connection with the O.U.A.M., the Order of United American Mechanics, and we are aware of one medal bearing the initials F.P.A, and a masonic style square and compass, but with the image of a book and building, suggesting a connection with architecture. CONDITION: The flag exhibits several tears, the largest is on the right side at the start of the Grace Council banner. There are also scattered stains and tarnishing. The stitching around the edges remains tight with other tears around the edges. The flag is quite fragile and will most likely need repairs. Overall fair.
