An excellent example of a German World War II veteran bringback lot contained in the original wood storage crate with all items documented on capture papers. The lot consists of a German NSDAP Political Leader's visor cap. The cap features a 1-piece circular crown, piped in blue, a 1-piece light brown velvet center band, also piped in blue along its upper and lower edges and whose vertical seam is to the reverse, and a chocolate brown visor. The blue piping, as well as the center band color, is indicative of the political “Ortsgruppe” (Local-group) level. The eagle was replaced with a Luftwaffe eagle, most likely by the GI. Excellent interior with light wear. There is also a German Bible, mentioned on the capture papers, as well as "9 German Pins" as mentioned on capture papers, that include a Hitler Youth pin, various tinnies, and a wool Luftwaffe eagle, all contained in a small cloth bag. There are also 2 flags, both noted on capture papers, as well as an NSDAP armband. Miscellaneous items include 2 uncut Heer breast eagles, Feldgendarmerie police sleeve eagle, a US invasion flag, and a souvenir dagger annotated "CHATEAUDUN AFRICA JULY 6, 1943". The items are all packed in their original wood storage crate with capture paper adhered to the front. The crate was packed since after the war and contains layers of careful packing of newspapers dating to the 1960s. The group was brought back Corporal Melvin E. Cook of Ohio, West Virginia. Cook survived the war and passed away in 1998. CONDITION: All items exhibit wear consistent with storage. Scattered mothing on armband. All paper items exhibit blemishes typical of old paper.
