Way back in 1978, Howard Cosell introduced Monday Night Football viewers to stadium nachos, a gallon of gas was 77¢ and the Yankees defeated the Dodgers in the World Series (again). Topps control of the baseball card landscape continued, and they issued baseball rack packs of 39 cards for 59¢. In Baltimore, a rookie player would start his illustrious trek to Cooperstown, colliding with this rack pack as the first card on top. “Steady” Eddie Murray cemented his spot at 1st base for the Orioles, slugging 504 home runs and 3255 hits over an epic 20 year career.
