SSP. Iconic and highly sought after C. 1930's Porcelain Neon Service Station Sign for Mohawk Gasoline showing iconic Mohawk script as well as Native American profile graphic. A product of Mohawk Petroleum Company, San Francisco, California. CONDITION: Sign is overall outstanding showing excellent color & gloss throughout the field with an outstanding condition graphic. Sign shows excellent shelving between each color and illuminates beautifully in glowing red & blue neon throughout the inner & outer fields. Sign shows one minor chip at the forehead of the Native American near the insulator hole which also shows some minimal chipping around the edge. The remaining field is bright and glossy showing no notable wear other than one nick at the upper center mounting hole. The outer black banded edge shows some minor areas of chipping along the outer with the heaviest being at the low center point where the piece may have been dropped but is not bent or creased. The only chip on the outer edge that extends into the red is at the lower right edge. Sign is mounted to a newly made metal can that is painted in black and displays the piece exceptionally well. An incredibly high grade example of this highly sought after piece from Mohawk Gasoline, a piece with tremendous display power.
