Originally manufactured as a Colt Government in 1992 and then customized by the American Historical Foundation for the 50th Anniversary of World War II, specifically Victory in the Pacific Theater. 5" barrel chambered in .45 ACP with standard sights. Blued finish with plastic faux ivory grips. Left side of slide is marked "IN HONOR OF VICTORY IN THE PACIFIC / ** 15 AUGUST 1945 **". Left grip panel is stamped with Japanese motifs and Macarthur quote "LET US PRAY / THAT PEACE BE NOW / RESTORED ... THESE / PROCEEDINGS ARE CLOSED". Further customized with "WWIIVP-117" near serial number and "EDDY ANDREASIK / CM 1/C US NAVY" on left side of slide. This would denote a possible gift to Eddy Andreasik, Carpenters' Mate 1st Class, US Navy. "WWIIVP-117" would be in reference to VP117, which was a Navy Patrol Squadron, these were also referenced to as VPBs and VBs. Complete with walnut display case with brass hinges, brass nameplate in lid, and red velvet interior. CONDITION: Excellent, with most of the original bluing remaining and markings crisp. Hammer shows freckling and oxidation on right side, consistent with being in a case for a long amount of time. Grips are excellent with no major signs of distress. Mechanically fine. Bore is lightly frosted with defined rifling. Case is excellent, with scattered handling marks and interior well worn consistent with years of use.
