Standard configuration P.08 Luger manufactured by DWM for the Imperial German military prior to World War I. The receiver is stamped "1912" over the chamber, with DWM arsenal proofs present on the right. This example appears to have been reworked for post-War commercial sales, indicated by the "GERMANY" stamp on either side of the frame and the installation of a 7.65x21mm Parabellum barrel. Major metal components are rust blued, while some smaller components are strawed. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered walnut grips. Right side of frame bears a small circular incision alongside an Imperial arsenal proof, indicating that this example was retrofitted with a hold-open device. All numbers are matching with the exception of the barrel, safety bar, and magazine, which are unnumbered. CONDITION: Metal components retain large amounts of their period applied blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning showing through to gray patina, as well as areas of surface oxidation and mild pitting overall. Strawed components exhibiting mild wear and areas of surface oxidation. Bright bore, exhibiting very light pitting and retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips show smoothing overall, with some minor marks from storage and handling.
