Lot consists of: 18 Kenawha Tribe No. 283 Improved Order of the Red Men medals with various ribbon colors and medal designs including arrows, war clubs, stag heads, etc. Also included are 3 Improved Order of Red Men ribbons, 2 of which are contained in their original envelopes and supported by their original cardboard supports. There are also several other miscellaneous Native American related medals. Most of the medals are related to Pennsylvania. The Improved Order of Red Men is a fraternal organization established in North America in 1834 that utilized rituals and regalia modeled after those assumed by men of the era to be used by Native Americans. Despite the name, the order was formed by and for white men. CONDITION: Most of the medals exhibit slight tarnishing with faded ribbons. Some of the medal ribbons exhibit slight fraying and wear. There are a few repairs to medals with hanging numbers. The 3 large ribbons are very good+ with great graphics that were wonderfully preserved in their original packaging. One ribbon exhibits a center fold. This is a very nice group of medals linked to American fraternal history.
