The Egypt Medal was awarded for military actions involving the British Army and Royal Navy during the 1882 Anglo-Egyptian War and Sudan between 1884-1889. Medals awarded for the first campaign were dated "1882" on the reverse and medals for the later campaigns are undated. The lot consists of: (A) Egypt Medal engraved in sloping serif capitals to "S. HARRIS, PTE. R.M." The medal displays the Tamaai clasp and is not dated on the reverse. Nicely mounted with Khedive's Bronze Star that was awarded to Harris. CONDITION: Dark patina to both medals with handling marks. Good overall. (B) Egypt Medal engraved in sloping serif capitals to "W. MORGAN. GUNRS. MTE. H.H.S. "SUPERB". The medal displays the Alexandria 11th July clasp. Dated 1882 on reverse. HMS Superb was an ironclad battleship that took part in the bombardment of Alexandria where she fired 310 shells at Egyptian forts. She received 10 hits in return, 7 of which struck her armor, suffering no casualties. CONDITION: Light patina with darkened rim. Good overall. (C) Khedive's Bronze Star. CONDITION: Light patina with slightly tarnished ribbon, remnants of glue at top. Good overall.
