A very nicely presented British medal group named to Private Thomas Killalea. The group consists of Killalea's Crimea Medal, officially impressed "PTE THO: KILLALEA. 88: FOOT". Crimea Medals were issued unnamed but could be returned to the mint for naming. The returned medals were usually impressed with serif capitals, and this style is often termed and accepted as "officially impressed.". The medal displays the Sebastopol and Alma clasps. Indian Mutiny Medal impressed in Roman capitals "THOS KILLALEA, 88TH REGT". Original issue, as service numbers are not impressed on the original issue. The medal displays the Central India clasp, which is confirmed in the rolls. Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (Victoria version with scroll suspender) impressed "2352 THOS KILLALEA 88TH FOOT". Turkish Crimean War Medal engraved with Roman capitals "2352 THOS KILLALEA 88TH FOOT", British version with "Crimea 1855" on reverse. Copies of records included. CONDITION: Medals exhibit a light-moderate patina with scattered blemishes and rim wear. Good overall.
