Standard configuration P.38 pistol manufactured by Walther in 1944. The left side of the slide is stamped "P.38" followed by the serial number, Walther's "ac" code and the 2-digit year of manufacture "44". Right side of slide bears a Walther "(Eagle) / 359" waffenamt on either side of an eagle firing proof. Right grip panel is lightly hand-scribed "WF". Slide and frame are blued, while the barrel is of post-War production and phosphate finished. Frame is mounted with 2-piece pressed resin grips. Slide has been dovetailed on the bridge, and is currently fitted with a metal wedge. Underside of slide bridge has been shaved down to accommodate the post-War barrel. Matching numbers are present on the slide and frame. CONDITION: Metal components retain good amounts of their original finishes, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning showing through to gray patina and some mild surface oxidation. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting sharp and well defined rifling throughout. Grips are excellent.
