Mle 1949-56 rifle manufactured by St. Etienne. The left side of the receiver bears typical markings along with a "(Crown) / AR" proof, indicating commercial sale on the French market, as well as a boxed "P91" stamp, indicating refurbishment in 1991. Right side of receiver bears a Century Arms International import stamp. Major metal components are parkerized, while a few smaller components are blued. Stock and handguards are comprised of solid wood. Matching numbers are present on the receiver and receiver cover. Bolt is electro-penciled and does not match. Rifle is fitted with a brown leather French sling. CONDITION: Metal components retain the majority of their arsenal applied parkerized finish, exhibiting scattered superficial handling marks overall, with some showing through to silvering. Bore is bright, exhibiting mild inactive surface oxidation and retaining strong rifling throughout. Wood furniture shows some dings, and marks from handling and storage, but is otherwise fine. A nice example of a French commercially proofed MAS 1949-56 rifle.
