An absolutely loaded first series awaited baseball card collectors in 1957, along with the first year of the “standard” card size. 1957 is one of Topps most highly regarded and popular issues of all time. There are only five total 1957 Topps Baseball First Series Cello Packs on the PSA population report at the time of this auction description, with only one graded higher. Part of an exceptional run of PSA graded cello packs available in this auction. A gorgeously centered Murry Dickson (card #28) shows on top. 12 cards inside the cellophane wrapping and only 88 cards in the first series loaded with hall of famers, the amazing possibility of a high grade example of Ted Williams, Yogi Berra, Willie Mays, Robin Roberts, Don Drysdale (rookie), Hank Aaron, Frank Robinson (rookie), Nellie Fox, Early Wynn, Ernie Banks, Roberto Clemente and Gil Hodges could be waiting. Early Topps cellos were produced in extremely limited quantities and it has been some time since a PSA authenticated first series 57 cello has been offered for sale. Start a fifties cello pack registry set and bring back the days of the “capital of baseball,” when NYC ruled the baseball universe and the trading card world was hitting its stride.
