Lot consists of: (A) Large dirk with dagger style blade marked "[W Crown R / JAMES] / RODGERS / JUSTLY / CELEBRATED / DIRK" on the ricasso. Blade measures approximately 7 - 1/4". Ornate silver ferrule features lush leaves flanked by berries and secures the slender ivory grip which leads to the pommel, decorated with balls and lines which leads to several leaves before the raised capstan. Grip is protected by an S-shaped guard. Blade is marked with the inventory number "544". This dirk is pictured as Fig. 68 in "Silver Mounted Swords The Lattimer Family Collection." CONDITION: Blade exhibits a pleasing patina with scattered spotting and freckling with scattered spots of surface rust. Silver decorations exhibit a nice patina. Grip exhibits a honey patina with 1 significant crack. (B) Circa 19th century American dirk with diamond shaped blade that measures approximately 5 - 3/8". Slender cross quillon with decorated ferrule and ivory grip. Complete with leather wrapped wood scabbard that features a metal tip. Blade and scabbard are marked with the matching inventory number "177". This dirk is pictured as Fig. 63 in "Silver Mounted Swords The Lattimer Family Collection." CONDITION: Blade exhibits a nice patina with scattered blemishes. Grip exhibits a pleasing honey patina with scattered hairline cracks. Dirk fits in scabbard except for 1/2". Scabbard exhibits surface wear and areas of loss. Both dirks were formerly part of the renowned John K. Lattimer Collection.
