May 11, 1774, document signed by Abraham Lincoln as a commissioner in Berks County, Pennsylvania, certifying ownership and value of 4 tracts of land owned by one Abel Thomas. Lincoln (1736-1806) was a member of the Berks County branch of the Lincoln family and is often confused with Lincoln’s grandfather of the same name. This Abraham Lincoln appears to have been a great uncle of the President. During the Revolution he served as a sub-lieutenant in the Berks County militia in 1777, a representative to the General Assembly for Berks County 1782-1786, and a Berks County Commissioner, in which capacity he signed this document, 1773-1779. He was a member of the state Constitutional Convention of 1780-90 and also a delegate to the 1787 Pennsylvania Convention to ratify the Constitution. CONDITION: Excellent. Fully legible with strong color to the ink. Docketed on the reverse.
