A nice lot of Winfield Scott ephemera from the John K. Lattimer Collection. The lot includes a letter from Winfield Scott to Reverend J.S. Gallagher about his appointment dated 1842 along with an interesting tiny bust photo of Scott in uniform that is contained in a frame of gilt foil that measures approximately 1" x 1 - 1/4". There is also a printed general order issued by Scott in 1842 and 3 different unused Civil War patriotic envelopes, each depicting and quoting Scott. There is also a 10 - 1/2" x 7 - 1/2" page regarding Major General W.J. Worth, in which Scott is mentioned. The letter comes with a James Spence Authentication Full Letter of Authenticity. CONDITION: Varied, but all pieces exhibit blemishes that are typical of old paper including yellowing, edge wear, creases, etc.
