Manufactured circa 1871 with 4" barrel in .31 caliber, standard front and rear sights, and Colt New York barrel address. Custom professionally engraved with vine scroll on stippled background, reminiscent of Colt factory engraving with accenting wrigglework, border around barrel address, wolf's head on hammer, sea shell accent on top side of backstrap near hammer, and cross hatching details on edges on both sides of hammer. 1 piece plain ivory grips. CONDITION: Excellent, with most of the added nickel plating remaining with scattered areas of clouding and freckling. Faint traces of gold wash in engraving lines, suggesting gold wash on top of nickel plating at time of embellishment that has subsequently worn away. Screws retain nearly all of their bright Nitre blue finish. Grips are very good with large repaired chip on right grip panel and 2 minor cracks on left grip panel near backstrap. Mechanically fine. Bore is frosted with strong rifling and heavy freckling near muzzle.
