Model 1892 New Army double action revolver chambered in .38 Colt manufactured by Colt in 1894. The left side of the barrel is stamped "COLT. D.A. 38", with Colt's 2-line address across the top. Underside of barrel is stamped "P3653" followed by "RAC", indicating inspection by Rinaldo A. Carr. Left side of frame bears the encircled Rampant Colt logo. Major metal components exhibit a lustrous nickel plated finish, while some smaller components including the frame screws, trigger, hammer, and grip screw are nitre blued. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered brown hard rubber grips featuring an encircled Rampant Colt logo between "COLT" and "1892" at the top of the grip panels. Additional features include a half-moon front sight, 6" barrel, as well as a frame notched rear sight. Matching assembly numbers are present on the frame, cylinder crane, cylinder release latch, as well as on the interior of the grip panels. Revolver is accompanied by its original factory picture box, which is matched faintly in pencil on the bottom panel. Interior of box lid features an Ideal Loading Implements graphic. Additionally, this already desirable example is accompanied by an original Colt factory letter listing the finish as "Nickel" and type of stocks as "Rubber", with additional information indicating that this example was included in the Colt Engineering Archive vault, which was available to the Custom Shop, Engineering, and Historical department employees as a reference piece. CONDITION: Very good overall, with metal components retaining the bountiful amounts of their factory applied nickel finish, exhibiting some tarnishing, mild wear, and a couple areas of discoloration overall. Nitre blued components exhibit some thinning and wear that shows through to gray patina. Mirror bore, exhibiting sharp, well defined rifling throughout. Grips shows a couple minor marks from handling and storage, but are otherwise fine. Box exhibits fading to the lid label, with some staining, and some losses to the graphic. Lid shows some separation at the corners and exhibits some losses at the edges, but is otherwise fine. A very attractive nickel plated Colt Model 1892 Army revolver, featured in Colt's Engineering Archive vault. MLW
