Circa 1874. A vintage and lovely game gun with 29" blued barrels. Barrels are fit with extractors, 2 - 3/4" chambers, and a smooth tapered flat top rib with a small silver round front bead sight. Rib reads "JAMES WOODWARD & SONS . 64, St. JAMES'S STREET, LONDON", and with "1" ahead of address. Barrel flats stamped "NP", "12", "70MM","SLEEVED","LP 13". Bottom of barrels stamped "18.5" and fit with a cross pin lug. Chokes are Modified in left barrel and Improved Cylinder in right. The double hammer dark patina action is adorned with fine scroll, fire blued double triggers, and a snap action lever beneath trigger guard. Action is built with a long scroll engraved top strap. Action is engraved "J. WOODWARD & SONS" at top. Trigger guard and long bottom strap are engraved with scrolls; bottom strap is further engraved with "3280", the gun's serial number. Vintage walnut stock with classic brown color and grain is built with an English straight hand diamond checkered grip, small gold oval with faintly engraved crest, and is finished by a serrated hard rubber plate. Splinter forend is furnished with fire blued locking cross pin, matched checkering, and scroll engraved iron metal. Interior iron metal with soft case colors is engraved with guns serial number. CONDITION: Good as refurbished. Sleeved barrels are very good. Action and triggers are very good. Stock is very good. Forend is good with hard to see but visible restoration near exterior cross pin channel. Cool gun.
