Armored glass viewport manufactured during World War II for use in German Panzer tanks, the origin of what model tank this viewport was procured from is not definitely known, but appears to have been possibly utilized as the vision port on the hull or in the commander's cupola from either a Panzer III, Panzer IV, or Tiger tank. Rear glass panel bears a partially legible "hej" manufactured code beside an indiscernible waffenamt code. Exterior exhibits a matte black painted finish. Accompanied this viewport is a handwritten tag from Henry K. Kellog reading "Bullet proof window from a bunch 8-10 German tanks destroyed by British artillery fire at J-3.4 - 5,0 (N.E. of Beja, Tunisia) april 19th, 1943 - I was showing Lt. Col. LEYRA, of the Brazilian Corps of Engineers all the work my battalion engages in. Henry K. Kellog". CONDITION: Exterior is excellent retaining the vast majority of its matte black painted finish. Glass exhibits some yellowing, with some air pockets, but is otherwise clear. An exceptional example of a Panzer/Tiger viewport, with excellent provenance.
