Desirable engraved Colt 1860 Army engraved in the Gustave Young Style, made by Samuel Colt Company Hartford, Connecticut in 1862. Blued round 7 - 1/2" barrel marked with "-ADDRESS COL. SAML. COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-" with German silver blade front sight in .44 caliber with floral engraving. 6 shot blued round percussion cylinder with floral engraving, matching last four digits "9088" of serial number, and "PAT. SEPT.10TH 1853" markings. Case hardened floral engraved 3 screw frame; lever and hammer with frame marked "COLT'S PATENT" on left side. Matching serial numbered silver plated brass grip straps with period ivory 2-piece grip. All numbered parts match with mismatched wedge. Gun has punch dot under serial numbers indicating gun slated for possible upgrade but is most likely an "in the period", possibly 1880s, upgrade by non-Colt associated workers in the Gustave Young style. CONDITION: Overall fair with metal parts fading to a silvery brown patina. Cylinder engraving has visible traces with nicks, dings, some discoloration, and noticeable drag mark. Brass has golden patina with silver worn entirely off. 1 action screw appears to be a replacement. Grips appear to be old with several glued cracks, but are in 2 pieces and modified and glued to fit gun. Pitted dark bore and good functioning mechanics.
