Manufactured 1977. Narrow anti-glare matted rib with an added fiber optic front sight, steel bead foresight. Left side of barrels with "BROWNING ARMS COMPANY MORGAN, UTAH & MONTREAL P.Q. / MADE IN BELGIUM"; right with "BROWNING SUPERPOSED / SPECIAL STEEL 20 GA. SHELLS _ 3" / BROWNING PATENTS". Left side of barrels with "**" and "**-" proofs for Modified and Improved Cylinder. Browning sliding round nose game forearm with Deely style latch and point pattern checkering. Boxlock action with J. Baerten signature and engraving depicting 3 quail in flight on left side, 3 pheasants on right, and a pointer on bottom, flanked by well cut scroll and wood scenes. Trigger guard with vacant vignette. Baerten's signatures are scarce and he was Browning's master engraver from 1955-1987. Single selective mechanical trigger with non-automatic safety. Flat knob long tang configuration stock made of well-figured crotch figured walnut with point-and-wave pattern checkering at the wrist. Brass oval on toe line. Browning hard rubber buttplate. CONDITION: Barrels retain virtually all of their bluing with very minor marks from handling and use; most noticeable where forearm reciprocates along bottom barrel. Engraving is crisp and well defined. Stocks are excellent, free of cracks of chips, and showing superficial scratches to finish and light marks from the field, mostly on left side of comb. Mechanically fine, ejectors are in time, bore excellent with some minor evidence of firing. A fantastic gun.
