P.38 assembled from left over World War II production parts and components for the Austrian Bundesheer. The left side of the slide bears Spreewerke's "cyq" code, with the right side exhibiting a Spreewerke "(Eagle) / 88" waffenamt on either side of an eagle firing proof. Frame bears a extremely faint Mauser "(Eagle)/ 135" waffenamt that has been mostly over-stamped by an Austrian "(Eagle) BH" Bundesheer proof. Barrel and locking block are also of World War II Mauser manufacture. Right side of frame bears a nearly undetectable "I.A.C." import stamp. Metal components exhibit a gray phosphate finish, while the frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved black plastic grips. Frame, barrel, and locking block all bear matching post-War applied serial numbers "362". This example is accompanied by a black leather holster marked "EIGENTUM der / WIEN / SICHENHEITSWACHE" within an oval on the rear. CONDITION: Metal components retain the majority of their post-War applied parkerized finish, exhibiting mild edge wear showing through to silvering, some scattered superficial marks from handling and storage, as well as a few areas of pitting present beneath the finish. Bore exhibits pitting and retains fair to good rifling throughout. Grips show scattered marks overall, but are otherwise sturdy and serviceable. Holster exhibits moderate exterior wear, but is otherwise fine.
