Produced by Asher and Pliny Bartlett of Springfield, Massachusetts for a Massachusetts state contract bearing "P / IB / M / 1811" Massachusetts proofs at the breech. Musket is fit with a 44 - 1/2" smoothbore barrel with top mounted bayonet lug. Reconverted flint lock with plate dated at the tail "1811". The center of the lock plate is marked "BARTLETT" with a "US" stamped at a later date. Full length fluted hardwood stock with iron Springfield type mounts. CONDITION: Good overall. Barrel and mounts exhibit a very pleasing speckled brown gray patina. Some artificial patina and pitting present on the lock. Stock displays a rich, age darkened appearance with some scattered expected impressions and bruises.
