Standard configuration throughout with 22" barrel chambered in .44 Ballard Rimfire with aftermarket ivory bead blade front sight and standard carbine rear sight. Manufactured by Ball & Williams of Worcester, Massachusetts and purchased for the US Government from Merwin & Bray of New York. 2-piece walnut stock and forearm with single barrel band and military buttplate. Left wrist of stock bears "MM" cartouche (Moses Moulton) and is also sub inspector marked "MM" on major parts. Matching serial numbers observed on barrel, top flat of frame, and breechblock. CONDITION: Very good, with nearly all of the original finishes turned a speckled gray-brown patina, with freckling throughout. Stock and forearm are very good with markings crisp and no major signs of distress. Mechanically fine. Bore is dark with visible rifling.
