Built essentially as a scaled down Model 1842 musket produced for the U.S. military institutes such as West Point and Virignia Military Institute and also saw action in the American Civil War on both sides. Standard configuration throughout. Markings include 1853 lock date, VP proof near breech, and US mark on buttplate. No visible cartouche on left stock flat opposite lock. CONDITION: Good, with heavy cleaning and freckling throughout, mostly a bright freckled patina. Barrel breech date is not visible.
