Unusual iron barrel divided into 3 sections, with first section octagonal about the breech with lightly decorated flats and edges, with offset "(Crown) / P" and "(Crown) / V" proofs, and TK barrel maker, probably Thomas Ketland. Second section is round, separated by a wedding ring, with a raised cannon barrel with another wedding ring. Iron ramrod with faceted head retained by a pair of barrel ferrules mounted to left side, underside with a spring mounted bayonet. Flint lock with integral fence at rear, bridled frizzen, a waveform frizzen spring, and a swan neck cock, signed "KETLAND / & CO" under pan. Walnut half stock with raised apron about the tang, brass forend cap, trigger guard, and buttplate, retained by a single barrel key. Brass with light floral decoration, mostly on trigger guard and heel of buttplate. CONDITION: Barrel is essentially a smooth chocolate patina, with some flashes of dove grey and a few isolated areas of peppering. Lock commensurate, cock screw probably a replacement, with legends softened but legible. Stock has bumps and bruises throughout, with a crack at barrel retaining key, and a pair of cracks at heel. Mechanically fine although bayonet spring is weak, bore is good with minor expected oxidation.
