The Michigan National Guard purchased 2,001 Remington-Lee military rifles chambered in .30-40 in 1898 and 1899, with serial numbers falling in the 100,001 to 102,200 range. This example, serial number 101157, falls squarely within this range and remains in its original full military condition. Rifle is fitted with a blued 29" barrel marked "30 U.S.A" and with with blade front sight and ladder rear. Receiver marked with standard Remington and patent information. The full length military walnut stock is marked near the butt plate with a "34" rack number. CONDITION: Very good overall. Significant amounts of factory blue are retained with some areas fading to a gray patina and spots of mild, cleaned oxidation. The stock remains serviceable with some expected light impressions throughout and a split through the handguard. Dark bore and fine mechanics. Magazine appears to be a replacement.
